A fake image of an explosion near the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., went viral on Twitter on the 22nd, causing temporary confusion.
Local fire officials later confirmed that no explosion had occurred.

The image in question was shared by a number of verified accounts on Twitter.
このうち米ブルームバーグ通信の系列と称するアカウントには「第一報」として、「ワシントンの国防総省ビル付近で大規模爆発」という書き込みとともに、大きなビルの近くに黒い煙が立ち上る画像が投稿された
Among them, an account claiming to be affiliated with Bloomberg News in the United States posted an image of black smoke rising near a large building as the ”first report”, along with the message ”Large explosion near the Pentagon building in Washington”.
このアカウントはツイッターによって停止された
This account has been suspended by Twitter.
The account operator and the source of the image are not clear.
爆発の情報はインドのニュース専門局「リパブリックＴＶ」でも、ロシアの国営テレビ局「ＲＴ」を引用する形で放送された
Information about the explosion was also broadcast by Indian news channel Republic TV, citing Russia’s state television station RT.
Both RT and Republic TV have since deleted the post.
