Fatal accidents caused by kotatsu and electric stove fires... NITE calls for caution

Before the full-fledged winter arrives, people have been warned against fires in electric heating appliances such as kotatsu and electric stoves.
If you leave the kotatsu on, the futon will burn over time and the fire will spread.
Also, if you put your clothes in the kotatsu to dry, they may come into contact with the heater and catch fire.
According to NITE (National Institute of Technology and Evaluation), there were 347 ”kotatsu” and ”electric stove” accidents in the five years up to last year, of which 26 were fatal accidents.
Fire accidents have been on the rise since 2019.
NITE calls attention to placing flammable items near electric heating appliances, damage to power cords, and dust around appliances that can lead to fire.
