There was a rare fish that ”walked” on the riverbed instead of swimming in the water.
This ’Spotted Handfish’ moves about using its hand-like pectoral fins, lurks in dark waters and pounces on lured prey by swinging the protuberance above its mouth.

Its whitish body and brown spots melt into the sand at the bottom of the river, making it difficult to see and even more difficult to photograph.
The species is critically endangered, with less than 3,000 individuals in the wild.
それでもフランスの写真家ニコラ・レミーさんは、どうしても自分の目でこの魚を見てみたいと思い、２０２２年に拠点としていたシドニーからタスマニア州を訪問しました
Still, French photographer Nicolas Remy wanted to see this fish with his own eyes, so he visited Tasmania from his base in Sydney in 2022.
He shot the photo in the cold water of the Derwent River by a water temperature of 11 degrees.
