TSMC Taiwan to build a new ”state-of-the-art semiconductor” factory in Arizona, USA
台湾の半導体大手「TSMC」は、アメリカ南部のアリゾナ州で最先端の半導体を製造する2つ目の工場の建設計画を6日に発表する方針です
Taiwan’s semiconductor giant ”TSMC” plans to announce plans on the 6th to build a second factory to manufacture cutting-edge semiconductors in the state of Arizona in the southern United States.
According to a senior US government official, TSMC will announce plans on the 6th to build a second factory in Arizona, separate from the factory currently under construction.
The second factory plans to start production of cutting-edge 3-nanometer semiconductors in 2026, for which mass production has yet to be established in the world, and will be able to meet all semiconductor demand in the United States.
With the construction of the two factories, TSMC’s investment will expand from $12 billion to $40 billion, or 5.46 trillion yen, making it one of the largest foreign direct investments in US history.
President Biden plans to visit TSMC’s Arizona factory on the 6th, and plans to appeal to strengthen the preparations for domestic semiconductor manufacturing.
