[Economy Watchers Survey] Street economy drops for the first time in four months

The number indicating the ”street corner economy”, which asks retail store owners and other people who are sensitive to the economy to get a sense of the economy, has declined for the first time in four months.

In the November Economy Watchers Survey released by the Cabinet Office, the figure indicating the current state of the economy was 48.1, 1.8 points lower than the previous month.
There were many responses pointing out the impact of high prices, such as ”There is a growing awareness of protecting one’s livelihood, and more and more customers are limiting their purchases to the minimum necessary” and ”Purchasing prices have risen, affecting profits.”
The figures that indicate the outlook for the economy over the next two to three months have also declined for three consecutive months.
However, the underlying trend was left unchanged, stating that ”the economy is showing signs of a recovery”, as all of these movements were small.
